UPVC Replacement Door Handles
Over time the handles on your doors will get worn out and require replacement. When doing this it is important that the new handles are in line with the critical dimensions of the previous handle.
The three measurements to be inspected are the top screw's location, lever and key hole sizes. Use the size guide to help you.
Inline Lever/Lever
A lever/lever door handle is a contemporary handle that can be installed on doors that are new or replacement. This kind of handle is available in many designs and finishes. This handle is available from several manufacturers including Avocet ERA Fullex Hoppe Mila Millenco Yale.
Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle
The door handles of uPVC/Composite are made of sturdy materials and are suitable for multi-point lock doors that require a heavy duty design. The handles are inline and run off the same spindle and screw fixings so they can be easily incorporated into existing or new uPVC/Composite doors.
The spring lever design allows the handle to be set and angled for comfortable operation and is suitable for all users. The handle has been endurance tested to 200,000 cycles, which will ensure the quality of the finish and performance of the handle over time. The lever that is sprung can be reduced to accommodate more locks. This is useful for doors with narrower openings where the cylinder is further back from the door. A shortened lever is also an excellent option for doors where the latch can be operated by a thumb turn located on the inside.
Lever Pad
A Lever Pad door handle made of upvc operates differently from lever-type handles found on most doors. These handles are operated by a single spindle or by two spindles, either inline or offset. They are usually employed on UPVC doors with double glazing. They are available in a variety of finishes and variations.
The handles have been tested to the minimum of 200 000 cycles and are available in a variety of finishes including White, Silver, Chrome & Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to rust. This provides the handle with a high performance and long-lasting durability for the purpose it was designed for.
All UPVC levers for handles come with a spindle, screws and can be installed on the uPVC door. The backplate fixation centres of 211mm allow for a wider handle, which is usually an advantage when replacing a damaged or old multi-point door lock mechanism. These levers for handles are also spring-loaded, thereby solving the issue of handles that slide from their horizontal position when they are not in use.
When selecting a replacement UPVC handle and spindle, it is essential to match the PZ dimensions of the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC door. This measurement may also be called 'handle centres or cylinder centre'. It is important to match the right handles.
Once you have the proper PZ size you will then be required to make sure that the lever pads and push pads are in a suitable shape to fit the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compatible handles you require for your doors. These are typically a square or round shape, with an internal lever as well as an external push pad.
The majority of UPVC lever pads that we sell are sprung, meaning that they will return to their horizontal position when not being used, instead of hanging out and possibly sticking in the frame. This stops draughts and cold air from entering a home. Also, the majority of UPVC lever pad handles are handed, allowing you to install them on either side of the door.
Euro Cylinder
Cylinder locks are usually found on uPVC doors, but they can also be found on other types of door. The cylinder lock operates by using a key that unlocks the cylinder case. This reveals pins that can be aligned to the pins in the lock, allowing them to rotate the camera that rotates, opening the door. Euro cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins. Doors that are internal and external require different levels of security.
Choosing the right cylinder is essential; it is contingent on the way your door and handle are utilized. For example, external doors require an extra secure cylinder, while doors inside can be secured with a standard cylinder. Some cylinders have extra features that can increase security, such as anti-drill or anti-bump properties.

To make sure that the euro cylinder is of the right size for your door, it should be measured accurately. The cylinder should be measured from the hole in the center of the fixing screw to each end of the cylinder including the thumb turn if you have one. If you cannot measure using the lock in its position, you can remove it. It is important to avoid having a cylindrical lock that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This could make it vulnerable to lock snapping attacks.
The design of most newer cylinders has anti-drilling and bump resistance features. These are designed to reduce the chance of attack by forcing cylinders to turn in a different direction. This can to deflect attacks and protect your door.
There are cylinders that are constructed to resist snapping. This is a common attack on cylinders. A specially designed tool is used to break the lock's break line and then the front of the cylinder is snapped off. This is a lot faster and less difficult than opening multipoint locks and leaves no evidence of a break-in, which could hinder an insurance claim.
Spring Cassette
The spring cassette is located in the base of the door handle backplate providing a sprung solution and returning your multipoint lock handles to their normal position after usage. Previously a lot of handles of this kind didn't have a spring built into them, and without it they are more likely to slide or drop once the locking mechanism is removed. The addition of this simple element is among the best ways to correct this issue and is an effective way to keep your doors made of upvc from getting stuck in an open or closed position, since they aren't always easy to close manually.
These spring cassettes are specifically made for use with multipoint locks that are sprung They will not work with unsprung multipoint handles and you will require a custom hole cut into your backplate to allow these to fit (please look at the image for a technical diagram). They are a replacement for existing broken or missing cassettes in the door handle backplate of numerous brands of uPVC doors. They feature a square cut out which allows for an 8mm spindle to be used and are available in a variety of.
These spring cassettes are a fantastic value-for-money way to fix the problem of handles on your doors sliding. They are simple to install and will extend the lifespan of your uPVC door.
